Contemporary scholars have differed regarding the validity of software copyrights. The (religious edict) we adhere to is that they are absolutely valid. Therefore, it is impermissible to use pirated software, even for preparing connections and adjusting settings. Such use must be avoided in the future. As for what has already resulted from its use, there is no sin in that.
