What did Allah intend by His Almighty saying: "And do not forget your share of the world"?

The scholars have differed in their interpretations of the Almighty's saying: "And do not forget your share of the world," among them: do not neglect to work in this world for the Hereafter, or hold onto what suffices you and spend the surplus, or do not neglect to thank Allah for His blessings. And among them also: that you work in this world for the Hereafter to escape punishment, or through charity and maintaining kinship ties.
