Is the saying of Umar, "The stomachs of the Muslims come first," when he was asked about clothing the Kaaba, authentic?

The saying attributed to Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him: "Will you not clothe the Kabah with silk? He said: The bellies of the Muslims are more deserving," has no origin in the books of Sunnah, Athar, or elsewhere, and it is not permissible to spread it.

However, it is authentically reported from him, may Allah be pleased with him, that he intended to distribute the treasure of the Kabah among the poor Muslims, but he stopped when he was informed that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Abu Bakr had not done so. He then said: "They are the two men whom I emulate." Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar mentioned that the Prophet's, peace and blessings be upon him, and Abu Bakr's leaving the Kabah's treasure untouched was out of consideration for the hearts of the Quraysh, who were new to Islam.

It is also authentically reported that Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, clothed the Kabah with "Qabati" (thin white cloth) from the public treasury, which indicates the falsity of the narration mentioned in the question.
