It is permissible to sell residential apartments based on designs, provided they are described in a way that eliminates ambiguity and prevents disputes. This type of contract is called an Istisna’ (manufacturing) contract. However, it is not permissible for an employee to increase the price of an apartment to take the increase for himself, because he is entrusted, and his action constitutes betrayal, embezzlement, and unlawful consumption of wealth.
