How can one reconcile the two Hadiths related to the accounting of good and bad deeds, which clarify the ruling concerning the intention to do a good or bad deed and the circumstances thereof?
There is no contradiction between the two fatwas, as both agree that whoever intends a good deed with sincere intention and determination will be rewarded. So, whoever intends to do a good deed but does not do it, one good deed is written for him. And whoever does it, ten good deeds are written for him, and this is multiplied many times over. And whoever Allah blesses and guides to act will receive a multiplication of reward that the mere intender does not receive. The reward written for one who merely intended a good deed is not equal to the reward written for one who actually performs it, because the doer combines the reward of intention with the reward of action, while the intender is written only the reward of intention.
