What is the ruling on an employee taking meals from his workplace that he does not eat, in order to take them home, and collecting files that the company discards, in order to take them home?

It is permissible for an employee to take home the remainder of his personal meal provided by the company, unless the company explicitly prohibits it. It is also permissible to take discarded files and benefit from them, as they have been abandoned willingly. The Permanent Committee has issued a fatwa (religious edict) permitting the taking of low-value items found in trash and benefiting from them if their owner does not care for them.
