Will a person be held accountable for his love or lack thereof for one of his parents due to the father's repeated travel and absence, which deprives the children of a father's affection?
"Hating one's parents and not loving them is a misfortune, for parents are the cause of a child's existence, and they have great favor over him in his youth. What Allah punishes is filial disobedience (Uquq al-walidayn). As for the absence of heartfelt love, Allah does not punish for it as long as the child does not outwardly express it to his parents. But if he expresses it, he has harmed them and entered into the realm of filial disobedience."
