What is the ruling on purchasing from usurious banks by installment if the price of the commodity by installment is the same as its cash price?
There is no consideration for the bank's price, such as the price offered by companies, or the difference between the cash price and the installment price. Rather, what matters is the validity of the bank's contract with the customer. Dealing with usurious banks is impermissible if Islamic banks are available, unless there is a pressing necessity. There is no objection to purchasing a car from a bank at market price, or more, or less, if the bank owns it before the sale and does not stipulate a late payment penalty. Selling in installments differs from selling for cash, and it is permissible for the bank to sell the commodity in installments for more than its value.
