Pig fat is impure (najis) by scholarly consensus, and clothing must be purified if it comes into contact with it. It is forbidden to eat pig fat, but it is permissible to use it for purposes other than consumption. If pig fat enters a compound, and its quantity is small and consumed such that no trace of it appears, or it transforms into another substance through استحالة (chemical transformation), then the compound is not considered impure. However, if the pig fat remains with its properties, even in a small, influential proportion, then the compound is impure. Clothing must be purified if it is contaminated by this impurity before prayer, or specific pure clothes must be designated for prayer.
