Is it permissible to speak with the suitor over the phone without the parents' knowledge?
"It is not permissible for engaged couples to converse unless both parties are trustworthy and the parents approve. In such a case, the conversation should be limited to ordinary matters related to life. If the parents do not approve, then communication is not permissible. The fiancée is a non- woman, and conversation with her must be conducted appropriately and limited to what is necessary for agreeing on post-marriage matters, while observing the approval of her guardian, ensuring that the conversation does not arouse lust or lead to temptation, that there is no other way to inform her, and that the conversation does not exceed what is necessary."
