Who are the nine chieftains and what are their names?

Allah Almighty said: "And there were in the city nine persons who caused corruption in the land and did not amend." (An-Naml: 48). These nine were the tyrants of Thamud and their leaders, who invited their people to misguidance, disbelief, and the rejection of Salih. They were behind the hamstringing of the she-camel and intended to assassinate Salih. Their names, according to Al-Suddi from Ibn Abbas, are: Du'ma, Du'aym, Hurma, Huraym, Dab, Sawab, Riyab, Mastah, and Qudar bin Salif, the one who hamstrung the she-camel.
