Is it permissible for a traveler who will be residing for eight days, and whose travel is for attending a training course that requires intense concentration and extends for long hours, to break his fast?

It is permissible for a traveler to break their fast on the day of their journey and on the day of their return if they have departed from the populated area of their city. This is the view of Ahmad and a number of jurists. As for the traveler who intends to reside in a country for more than four days, they are treated as a resident according to the majority of jurists, and they must complete their prayers and fasting. If the intention is to reside in London for eight days, then it is not permissible to break the fast or shorten prayers, and difficulty or the need to focus does not permit breaking the fast.
