What is the Ash'ari group prevalent in Syria, and are they Sufis?

There is no Sufi order by this name, as Ash'arism is a school of Islamic scholastic theology that used rational and theological proofs as a means to argue against its opponents to establish the truths of religion. The Ash'aris are a people who ascribed themselves to Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari, adhering to his ancient views. Some of their beliefs have been previously explained in related fatwas.
