Adultery is one of the gravest sins. The sin becomes more severe and the crime more heinous when it is committed openly. Those who commit it must fear Allah and abstain from it, and remember Allah’s punishment and wrath. If a person falls into adultery and then repents repeatedly, there is still hope for him as long as he repents after every sin and does not despair of Allah’s mercy. Allah forgives sins as long as the servant knows that he has a Lord who forgives sins and holds him accountable for them.
