Is it permissible for me to travel to Makkah to perform Umrah or Hajj without a mahram, given that I am an unmarried woman 44 years of age and do not have a mahram to accompany me?

A woman is not permitted to travel alone for a distance of a day and a night unless she is accompanied by her husband or a mahram, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel a distance of a day and a night unless she is accompanied by a mahram." However, some scholars have made an exception for a woman's travel for the obligatory Hajj with a trustworthy group. Therefore, it is not permissible for a woman to travel alone to Makkah or any other place unless she is accompanied by a mahram or a husband, except if it is for the obligatory Hajj, in which case a trustworthy group suffices.
