Must I contact companies to ensure products (such as cosmetics, laundry detergents, and floor fresheners) are free of alcohol, and must they be avoided if there is doubt, or has this become a widespread affliction, especially after using a product that was later found to contain alcohol?

If the alcohol used in substances transforms into another different substance, then it becomes pure, and the ingredient in which it was used is considered pure. There is no need to inquire or search about the presence of alcohol in substances; it is sufficient to presume the original state, which is their freedom from impure substances. If alcohol is used as a cleaner for the floor, then the floor and whatever comes into contact with it become pure by drying. As for benefiting from alcohol in ways other than drinking, its ruling is explained in another fatwa.
