Is the one who engages in Ta'wil (allegorical interpretation) in Tawhid al-Rububiyyah (Oneness of Lordship) and Tawhid al-Uluhiyyah (Oneness of Divinity) excused, and when does the excuse fall away from him?

The ruling on whether a person is excused due to ignorance or misinterpretation in religious matters, or not excused, varies. This variation depends on whether the evidence has reached them, the clarity of the issue, and the differing levels of human understanding. Therefore, one whose Islam is established does not cease to be a Muslim unless the evidence has been presented, doubts removed, and the impediments to declaring them an apostate are cleared. As for one who denies clear obligations or prohibitions after the evidence has reached them, they are a disbeliever. However, for one upon whom the evidence has not been established, such as a new convert to Islam or someone raised in a remote desert, they should be asked to repent and the evidence presented to them. If they then persist, they become a disbeliever at that point.
