Does a lack of tribulation indicate a deficiency in faith?

The meaning of the Hadith: "When Allah desires good for someone, He afflicts him with trials," is that if Allah intends good for His servant, He tests him with calamities to expiate his sins and elevate his ranks. These calamities are good for the servant if he perseveres and seeks Allah's reward. However, this does not mean seeking calamities; rather, what is prescribed is to ask Allah for well-being (Aafiyah) in this world and the Hereafter. Moreover, the affair of the believer is all good: if prosperity befalls him, he is grateful, and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he is patient, and that is good for him. A person not being afflicted with illness is not a sign of Allah's lack of love for him, for what truly matters are righteous deeds and gratitude to Allah for the blessing of well-being.
