Does insulting God or religion—when done out of anger at another person's action and not with the intention of demeaning God or religion itself—constitute apostasy from Islam? And in this case, must the doer utter the Two Testimonies or perform ghusl before prayer? And is his wife divorced, and does the number of divorces decrease?

Slandering Allah the Almighty is an act of disbelief that expels one from the fold of Islam—both outwardly and inwardly—by the consensus of the scholars. It is not a condition that the slanderer considers the slander permissible or that he knows it is an act of disbelief. If a Muslim slanders his Lord, he becomes an apostate from his religion, and his repentance is to utter the two testimonies of faith, convinced of their meaning, whether in prayer or otherwise. If a Muslim apostatizes, does his wife become separated from him immediately or after the waiting period ('iddah) expires? And is this separation an annulment or an irrevocable divorce? There is a difference of opinion among the scholars regarding this.
