Visiting and maintaining ties with one's parents is a prescribed and desired act at all times for both men and women. There is no specific number of weekly visits determined. This varies according to the parents' circumstances and wishes, and obedience to them regarding visits is obligatory, as long as it does not cause harm to the child and provided it does not involve disobedience [to God]. Filial piety is one of the greatest acts of nearness to Allah, and it brings good to the child in their religious and worldly affairs.
