What is the ruling on a wife doubting her husband and spying on him, and then the husband swearing to حرم his wife upon himself if she spies again, and the ruling on one who swears by divorce upon his wife if her family knew their return date, even though the wife had informed her family of that and falsely denied their knowledge out of fear of her husband?

The wife must think well of her husband and avoid spying, and she must repent sincerely if she has done so.

Regarding the husband's prohibition of his wife, conditioned on a specific action, it depends on the husband's intention. If he intended it to include everything related to him, and the wife violated his command, then the oath is broken.

As for the husband swearing by divorce if his wife's family knows his return date, the divorce does not occur if her family is unaware of it. Lying is permissible to preserve conjugal harmony as long as it does not diminish a right, and it is preferable to use circumlocution (Ma'areedh).

Both spouses are advised to avoid anger and resolve problems through understanding. The husband should avoid uttering words of divorce as much as possible.
