How old was Caliph Omar ibn al-Khattab when he migrated to Medina?

Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, embraced Islam when he was twenty-six years old, in Dhul-Hijjah of the sixth year of the Hijrah. Thus, when he migrated, he was thirty-three years old. He was the first to establish the Hijri calendar, saying: "We shall date by the migration of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, for his migration distinguished between truth and falsehood."
