Is it permissible to pray with a man in the same mosque and congregation if he exhibits the signs of a hypocrite mentioned in the Hadith: "The signs of a hypocrite are three: when he speaks, he lies; when he is entrusted, he betrays; and when he promises, he breaks it"?

A man characterized by traits of practical hypocrisy (nifaq 'amali) is permitted to be prayed with in the mosque, and his presence is not a legitimate excuse for failing to attend congregational prayer. Praying in congregation behind him is sufficient if he meets the conditions of imamate, but it is preferable to follow someone else. He should be advised gently and wisely in private.
