How does a friend correct his mistake after his uncle's death, thinking that he severed the ties of kinship by not visiting him during his illness?

If a person does not visit his maternal uncle due to circumstances beyond his control, he incurs no sin. It is, however, commendable for him to give charity, seek forgiveness, supplicate for his uncle, and care for his children. But if he deliberately severs ties with him, he has committed a sin, and he must repent, frequently seek forgiveness, and perform righteous deeds. This is in accordance with the Almighty’s saying: "So, would you, perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship? Those are the ones whom Allah has cursed, so He made them deaf and blinded their vision." And the Almighty’s saying: "But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and reforms, then Allah will turn to him in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
