Is it permissible for me to work temporarily with the intention of leaving once I find a better job, knowing that my employer might be relying on my continued employment?

An ‫ijarah (lease/hire contract) is a binding contract. Neither party may unilaterally terminate it before the agreed-upon duration ends, unless with the consent of the other party. This applies when the duration is specified. However, for a monthly ijarah (where the rent/wage is set per month without a specified end date for the contract), it is considered valid by some jurists, and either party may terminate it whenever they wish. Therefore, it is permissible to begin work with the intention of leaving the monthly employment whenever the worker desires.
