The answer

The maternal aunt holds a status akin to that of a mother. She must preserve this status by not interfering in the affairs of her sister's household, husband, and children, except to a known and acceptable extent. The aunt's daily interference in her sister's affairs causes resentment and anxiety, leads to problems and disagreements, and constitutes an infringement on the right of the husband, who is the master of the house. The aunt must be gently and gradually informed of the error of her actions through advice and reminders. The optimal solution is to entrust the husband with the final decision on every matter, and for the implementation of beneficial advice to be contingent upon his approval, while unsuitable advice is rejected. It is not permissible to abandon the aunt or sever ties of kinship with her. Rather, she must be prevented from overstepping her boundaries while still being treated kindly through maintaining kinship ties, giving gifts, and speaking gently. If the aunt does not tolerate being restricted, her visits will cease. In this case, her sister's children should visit her in her home. If these solutions are unsuccessful, then one may limit interaction with her to the bare minimum without severing ties of kinship.
