"Sayyida Mariyah al-Qibtiyyah, may Allah be pleased with her, is the mother of the Messenger of Allah's son, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. Al-Muqawqis sent her to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, in the seventh year of the Hijra. She embraced Islam at the hands of Hatib ibn Abi Balta'ah before her arrival to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. She was a slave woman to him and then became Umm Walad after she gave birth to his son Ibrahim, peace be upon him."
