Why does Islam prohibit the consumption of alcohol, even in small quantities, and what does the Qur'an say about that?

Alcohol is intoxicating and impairs the mind, and it is forbidden by Islamic law, as the Prophet ﷺ said: "Every intoxicant is Khamr, and every Khamr is unlawful." It is also a great sin that harms the mind and body, and Allah has forbidden everything that harms the body and mind, debilitates strength, and is considered a squandering of wealth and extravagance. As for the use of alcohol in small quantities for purposes other than drinking, such as in perfumes to preserve them and prevent their spoilage, there is no harm in it. However, drinking it is never permissible under any circumstances.
