Is not registering for the debate and losing hope of getting the job a preordained provision from Allah?

The provisions for people are in Allah's hands alone. A servant will not be denied an atom's weight of provision that Allah has decreed for him, nor will he be given an atom's weight of provision that Allah has not decreed for him. The servant must take the necessary means to acquire provision, while being certain that everything that befalls him is by Allah's decree and destiny, and it is good for him if he is patient and grateful. Calamities may elevate a servant's status with Allah, and impatience deprives one of the reward of patience. Therefore, it is recommended to be patient and content with Allah's decree and to have a good opinion of Him. One must be wary of despairing of Allah's mercy and losing hope in His spirit, for these are forbidden. Sadness is among the ailments of the heart that weaken the heart and diminish resolve, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sought refuge from it.
