Is it permissible to make an intention to do good deeds in front of people or friends, with the aim of having them follow my example, such as going for Umrah and informing them about it?

If a Muslim performs a good deed openly with the intention that others emulate him and be encouraged to do likewise, and not for ostentation (riya'), then his intention is sound, and he will be rewarded for it. Scholars have recommended the open performance of deeds that are difficult to conceal, such as battling in war (ghazw) and performing Hajj, because this encourages people to follow suit and emulate. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever introduces a good practice (sunnah (definition) hasanah) will have its reward and the reward of whoever acts upon it until the Day of Resurrection." However, if the condition of sincerity is compromised, then secrecy is better.
