You should adjust the scale of priorities such that hatred for the sake of Allah, and hatred of disbelief, wickedness, and their practitioners, is greater than hatred of anything else. There is no harm in academic competition, but do not let worldly matters be your greatest concern. supplicate for the girl's guidance and for yourself for the good of this world and the hereafter. Ask Allah for excellence in studies and for work for the hereafter. Know that excellence has causes, so strive and study while seeking Allah's help and having good expectations of Him.
