The answer

If banks observe Sharia-compliant regulations in their financial dealings, it is permissible to invest money with them and benefit from their profits. As for interest-based (riba) banks, it is not permissible to invest money with them, regardless of their profits, for Allah Almighty says: "Allah destroys interest and gives increase for charities. And Allah does not like every sinful disbeliever" and "O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers. And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger." Lawful means of investment are numerous, and whoever fears Allah—He will make for him a way out, for Allah Almighty says: "And whoever fears Allah — He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect." Sustenance is not attained by disobeying Allah, for "Indeed, the Holy Spirit has inspired in my soul that no soul will die until it completes its appointed term and receives its full provision."
