What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding a wife who wishes to return to her husband, but her family refuses this and compels her to seek a divorce, threatening to disown her and forbid her mother from her if she returns to her husband, especially since the father has filed a Khul' (dissolution of marriage) case that is still pending in court?

It is not permissible for the wife's father to prevent her from returning to her husband, or to incite her to divorce him, as this is a forbidden act of incitement (takhbib). The wife must disobey her father and return to her husband, because obedience to the husband after marriage is more obligatory upon her than obedience to her parents, as he has more authority over her than they do. She should advise her father gently and remind him that his action contradicts the command of Allah and His Messenger, and seek help from someone who can influence him. If he insists, she must disobey him and return to her husband.
