Is it permissible for children to take out a loan to pay off their father’s interest-based debt, given the availability of lower interest rates, and is the father’s continuous remorse for paying interest accepted, and is educating children with this money unlawful?

It is not permissible for a father to take out a usurious loan to educate his children, whether the education is religious, which can be acquired through other inexpensive means, or worldly, which does not necessitate debts. What is incumbent upon him now is repentance and remorse, and to promptly repay the usurious debts. It is obligatory for his children and others to assist him in this, and it is not permissible for the questioner to take out a usurious loan to help his father, because usury is a major sin. As for his (the son's) certificate, it is permissible because it is the fruit of his effort.
