How sound is the hadith: "When it is the last night of Ramadan, those who are freed [from hellfire] in it are more numerous than in all other nights"? And does it refer to the 29th night or the night of Eid?

Among the virtues of the month of Ramadan is that Allah Almighty has those freed from the Fire on every night. When the first night of it comes, the devils are chained, the gates of Hell are closed, and the gates of Paradise are opened. And a caller proclaims: "O seeker of good, come forth; and O seeker of evil, desist. And Allah has those freed from the Fire, and that is on every night." As for the hadith "When the first night of the month of Ramadan comes, Allah looks upon His creation... And Allah has a million freed from the Fire every day, and when the twenty-ninth night comes, Allah frees therein as many as He freed throughout the entire month," it is fabricated (mawdu').
