Is what is circulated on the Internet regarding the punishment for abandoning prayer—that whoever does not pray Fajr loses the light of their face, whoever does not pray Dhuhr loses the blessing in their sustenance, whoever does not pray Asr loses their physical strength, whoever does not pray Maghrib gains no benefit from their children, and whoever does not pray Isha loses the peacefulness of their sleep—correct, or is it merely people's fabrications?

This hadith has no basis in the authentic or weak books of Sunnah. It is fabricated and circulated in forums with the intention of frightening people into not abandoning prayer. Lying about the Prophet is a grave sin, and some scholars have stipulated that deliberately doing so constitutes disbelief. The Permanent Committee was asked about this hadith and responded that it has no basis. Sheikh Salih al-Fawzan also affirmed that it has no basis, and that the warning against abandoning prayer is established in the Quran and authentic Sunnah, such as his (peace be upon him) saying: "Between a servant and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer," and Allah's (the Most High) saying: "What has caused you to enter Saqar (Hell)? They will say: 'We were not among those who prayed.'" Therefore, it is not permissible to spread this hadith or attribute it to the Prophet (peace be upon him).
