ما معنى مناسك؟

The word "Manasik" (مناسك) is the plural of "Mansak" (منسك), and its linguistic origin refers to worship, or from "nasikah" (نسيكة), which means purified from impurity, or it means "I went." All these meanings relate back to worship and drawing near to Allah. The term "Manasik" has become predominantly used for the acts and rituals of Hajj.

"Nusuk" (نسك) is used with three meanings: 1. Worship in general: Such as when they say, "So-and-so is a nasik," meaning a worshipper of Allah. 2. Drawing near to Allah through sacrifice: As in His (Allah's) saying: ﴿Say, "Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds."﴾ (Al-An'am: 162). 3. The actions and sayings of Hajj: As in His (Allah's) saying: ﴿And when you have completed your rites, remember Allah as you remember your forefathers or even with greater remembrance.﴾ (Al-Baqarah: 200).

In this last meaning, "Nusuk" is of two types: The Nusuk of Umrah: This includes assuming Ihram from the Miqat, circumambulating the Kaaba (Tawaf), performing the ritual walk (Sa'i), and shaving or shortening the hair. The Nusuk of Hajj: This includes assuming Ihram from the Miqat, proceeding to Mina, then Arafat, then Muzdalifah, then Mina again, circumambulating the Kaaba (Tawaf), performing the ritual walk (Sa'i), and completing the acts of Hajj.
