Should a daughter leave her job due to fear of her illness worsening, given that every time she performs Istikhara and goes to work, she immediately falls ill?
The evil eye is real, and it is prescribed to seek protection from it by consistently reciting the prescribed remembrances (adhkar) and supplications (ta'awwudhat), and through legitimate ruqya. It is also advised to stay away from sorcerers and charlatans. Furthermore, it is permissible to guard against the evil eye by concealing what might cause it, and by saying "Masha'Allah" (what Allah wills) and supplicating for blessings upon seeing something admirable, in accordance with the Almighty’s saying: "And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah'?" As for success in work, it is not obligatory to abandon it out of fear of the evil eye. Rather, it is better to continue working while seeking protection through remembrances and supplications, and by adhering to acts of obedience.
