What is the ruling on adhering to a madhhab even if it becomes clear that it is the less preferred opinion?

Adhering to a specific madhhab (school of thought) that later proves to be weak in evidence is a dangerous and impermissible act. It falls under taking rabbis and monks as lords besides Allah, and it constitutes turning away from Allah’s guidance and the Sunnah of His Prophet, peace be upon him.
