Is it permissible for a woman to drink alcohol once at her husband's request to prove her innocence against accusations he levels against her, in order to avoid divorce and save her family, which includes four children?
Islam has forbidden intoxicants and considers them among the major sins. The ahadith (Prophetic narrations) have clearly condemned them and cursed the one who drinks them, as well as anyone involved with them. Among its misfortunes is that the prayer of its drinker is not accepted for forty days. Therefore, it is not permissible to obey the husband in drinking intoxicants, because there is no obedience to a creature in disobeying the Creator. This must be explained to the husband, and if he insists on divorce, Allah will compensate her.
