The intent behind a woman's clothing not being an adornment is that it should not attract the attention of men. If it does, then it contradicts the purpose of the Sharia in concealing a woman's adornment. Changing the color of some parts of the abaya is not prohibited as long as it does not attract attention. A woman is commanded to avoid everything that incites fitna and attracts the attention of non-mahram men. This includes the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition of a woman perfuming herself when going to the mosque, and it also includes fine clothing, visible jewelry, and extravagant adornment. The Sunnah is for a woman to go out in her simplest and plainest clothes. A believing woman must prioritize the command of her Lord over her own desires, for this world is a place of trial.
