What is the ruling on a father preventing his son from going to congregational prayers, and how can the son guide his father?

It is not permissible for a father to prevent his son from congregational prayer (Salat al-Jama'ah) due to its obligation, and because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Obedience is only in what is good," and "There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator." The son must honor his father in matters that are not sinful and advise him in the best manner.
