Is it obligatory for someone entering the mosque to inspect their footwear to ensure its purity, even if they will not be praying with it inside the mosque?

It is recommended for whoever wishes to bring his sandals into the mosque to inspect them and look into them at the mosque entrances. If he sees any impurity on them, he should wipe it off on the ground and then pray in them.
