A woman has the right to seek divorce due to clear harm caused by her husband's mistreatment, and she is entitled to her financial rights upon the divorce. Marriage in Islam aims for tranquility, stability, affection, and mercy, therefore, each spouse should treat the other kindly. Although divorce is permissible when needed, its default ruling is prohibition due to the consequences it entails, especially for children.
