What should a girl do who used to curse her mother and verbally abuse her, and now feels guilty after her death? Should she remain silent about people's good opinion of her, or tell them the truth? And how can she atone for her sin and honor her mother after her death?

To pray for the death of one's mother or to repay her cruelty is a grave sin. She carried you, breastfed you, and stayed awake for your comfort. Allah has enjoined kindness and righteousness towards her. You must offer sincere repentance and begin to pray for your mother's mercy and forgiveness, fulfill her vows, maintain the ties of kinship that are only connected through her, and honor her friends. There is no need to inform others of the truth, as Islam calls for concealment.
