Bukhari and Muslim did not encompass all authentic hadiths; rather, they mentioned a large portion of them, and others can be found in different sources. There is no specific age for the permissibility of slaughtering livestock. The Hanafis inferred this from the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "The slaughter of the fetus is the slaughter of its mother." They interpreted the second instance of the word "slaughter" (dhakat) as a simile, meaning that the fetus is slaughtered just as its mother is slaughtered. This indicates that no specific age is stipulated for the ritual slaughter of animals.
