Does Zakat become due on the capital only for the previous six years, or on the profit, given that the questioner bought a car for 4,000 Dinars and sold it after six years for 11,800 Dinars, and did not pay Zakat during that period?

Purchasing a car with the intention of trade has two scenarios:

1. If the car is specified or accurately described: The sale is valid, and its value must be assessed annually. One-quarter of one-tenth of its value must be given as zakat on trade goods, whether it has been taken possession of or not, unless there is an impediment to taking possession. In that case, the zakat for all previous years must be paid upon taking possession. 2. If the car is described in a liability (Salam sale): The sale is not valid unless the conditions for a Salam sale are met, one of which is specifying the delivery date. If the delivery date is not specified, the sale is void, and the buyer must pay zakat on their capital for all past years and dispose of the profit by spending it on charitable causes for the poor and needy.
