This is because the defect that necessitates disclosure is one that obstructs the purpose of marriage, such as enjoyment, service, and procreation. Nevertheless, it is preferable to inform the suitor to avoid future problems. Sheikh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen mentioned that a defect is anything that obstructs the purpose of marriage, not its perfection, and this includes infertility, blindness, deafness, or muteness.
