The creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (the People of the Sunnah and the Community) is that whatever Allah has affirmed for Himself or His Prophet has affirmed for Him is established for Him in its true reality, without similitude (tamthil) or negation (ta'til). The attributes of the "Qadam" (Foot) or "Rijl" (Leg) are affirmed for Allah Almighty by the Qur'an and Sunnah. Among the proofs for this are:

1. The Hadith of Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Hellfire will continue to have things thrown into it and it will say, 'Is there any more?' until the Lord of Might places His Foot therein, whereupon its parts will draw close together, and it will say, 'Enough, enough, by Your might!'" It was also reported with the wording "His Leg" in a narration by Al-Bukhari. 2. The statement of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them: "The Kursi (Footstool) is the place of His two Feet." 3. Imam Ibn Khuzaymah affirmed the establishment of the Leg for Allah, عز وجل, despite the noses of the negators. 4. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen emphasized the obligation of believing that Allah Almighty has a Foot or a Leg in a real sense, without resemblance or 'how-ness' (kayf).
