Is it permissible to own a wolf and to touch and kiss it?

There is no religious impediment to raising and owning animals. Indeed, the household of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had a wild animal, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to playfully engage with Abu Umayr and ask him about his small bird, "an-Nughayr." This indicates the permissibility of keeping, raising, and owning animals. It is permissible to own a wolf and other animals, and to touch them, as long as they are not ritually impure or forbidden to own without necessity or need, such as dogs, which are prohibited from being owned and raised except for hunting or livestock dogs.
